It depends on the look and the job. Three-quarter to 2″ gravel is the workhorse for ground cover and drainage. Larger rip-rap and boulders handle slopes and accents. Decomposed granite packs down for paths and sitting areas. We bring samples to the estimate so you can see color in your own light before you commit.
One to two inches at minimum for full coverage so the ground does not show through. We go deeper on high-traffic or drainage areas. Much thinner than that and weeds and dirt telegraph through fast. We calculate tonnage by square footage and depth so you are not short and not paying for extra.
You do not have to have one, but we highly recommend it. A commercial-grade fabric under the rock blocks the bulk of weeds and keeps the rock from sinking into the soil. It is not magic, seeds still blow in on top over time, but it cuts the maintenance way down and makes cleanup easy. On most yards it is worth the small added cost.
Yes. We handle demo and haul-off: old rock, dead grass, dirt regrading, whatever is there. A lot of rock jobs are really a cleanup plus a fresh install, and we price both parts so there are no surprises on the day.
It depends on access. If a wheelbarrow path works, we wheel it. For bigger loads we can run compact equipment through a side gate, or set up a chute over a wall. We check access during the estimate so the crew shows up with the right plan.
