Overview

A green that rolls true, shaped to your yard.

Backyard putting greens turn ten spare minutes into real practice. We shape the cups, breaks and fringe around your space, then build the base so the ball rolls the same in July as it does in January.

Our owner started out building putting greens more than 30 years ago, and it is still the most precise turf work we do. Every green gets putting-specific turf over an excavated, compacted base, built for Phoenix heat and monsoon rain.

What We Build

Putting greens we build

A single practice cup or a full short-game setup. Pick a layout or mix a few.

Practice greens

One or two cups in about 150 to 300 square feet. Enough to groove your stroke without giving up the yard.

Multi-hole layouts

Several cups across a bigger green so you can practice lag putts, short ones and everything between.

Breaks, slopes and tiers

We shape the contours into the base, so the green breaks the way the courses you play do.

Fringe and chipping collars

A taller fringe around the edge gives you a place to chip from and a clean border against the yard.

Sand trap add-ons

A bunker beside the green for practicing the shot most people avoid. We build it to drain like the rest of the green.

Greens inside a lawn

A green set into a full artificial turf yard, so it reads as part of the landscape.

Not sure what fits? We walk the yard with you and sketch a layout at the free estimate.

Choosing a Layout

Which green fits how you practice?

Start with how you play and how much room you have.

Mostly putting

A short, dense pile with sand infill set to the speed you like.

Chipping too

Putting-specific turf over a compacted base that takes wedge shots, plus a padded landing zone if you chip a lot.

A small yard

One or two cups in about 150 to 300 square feet. You still get real breaks to practice reading.

Room to spread out

A multi-hole layout with fringe, chipping collars and maybe a sand trap.

Full afternoon sun

Ask our crew at your estimate. We often set greens where they catch afternoon shade, and we will tell you what we would do in your yard.

Before You Start

Questions golfers ask before they build

How true does the roll play?

We build putting greens to the speed you like and shape in the breaks and tiers you want. It holds a true line in any weather. It will not replace bentgrass at a country club, but it putts the same every day with no mowing.

How much room do I need?

Less than you would think. A one or two hole practice green works in about 150 to 300 square feet, and bigger yards get multi-hole layouts with fringe and chipping collars. We lay it out to your space during the estimate.

Can I chip onto it?

Yes, with the right build. We use putting-specific turf over a compacted base that takes wedge shots, and we can add a padded landing zone if you chip a lot. Tell us how you practice and we spec it for that.

Does it bake in the Arizona sun?

The fibers are UV-stabilized, so the color holds for years. Like any surface it warms in full sun, so we often set greens where they catch afternoon shade, and a quick rinse cools them fast.

What is the upkeep?

Keep leaves and debris off it with a leaf blower. You can brush the fringe, but never brush or rake the putting surface itself, since that can damage the roll. No mowing, no watering and no chemicals. It plays the same in July as it does in January.

What does a backyard green cost?

It depends on the size, the number of cups, how much shaping the breaks need and any fringe, chipping area or sand trap you add. We measure on site and give you a firm price.

How long does an install take?

Most backyard greens go in within 1 to 3 days once the design is set. Bigger multi-hole layouts or added hardscape can take a little longer.

Is it under warranty?

Yes. The turf is backed by a 15-year manufacturer product warranty, plus our satisfaction guarantee on the work.
